A fully 3D printed box that transforms into a heart when opened.
Printing
- Print two copies of the lid and two copies of the main body.
- No supports required.
- Use filament with good mechanical properties. Silk and matte filaments might be too brittle.
Assembly
- Test fit a lid part with a main body part and familiarize yourself with the registration keys.
- Line up two main body prints so that the raised tabs on one side line up with the recesses on the other end.
- Press body prints together. Use a clamp if necessary.
- Repeat this step with the lid parts.
- If parts are too loose, repeat the steps above with glue.
- Slide lid onto the main body. The arms of the lid should be flexible enough to bend as they slide.
- Angle the lid so it is perfectly between the fully closed and fully open positions (a 45 degree angle). If aligned correctly, you should be able to press the arms of the lid in fully.
